FAQs

  • The hair needs to be grown out at least 12 days since your last shave for the waxing or sugaring to work properly. It is best to be well hydrated before a wax and gently exfoliate and moisturize the skin to be treated a few days before. You can also take ibuprofen 45 minutes prior. Avoiding alcohol or caffeine before is best.

  • The hair grows in 3 different cycles lasting about 10 days each. When you wax or sugar for the first time, the hair that is above the surface is pulled out. The hairs that are in a different growth phase under the skin stay, for this reason, not everyone is 100% perfectly smooth on their first appointment. It is best to return once a month to keep your skin hair free. Regular waxing and sugaring will cause the hair to grow back finer, softer, and more sparse which we know you will love!

  • The honest truth is yes, pulling hair out can be a little painful, but surprisingly most of our clients say it is really not as bad as they had expected. The experience of the Aesthetician plays a big part in giving a wax that is the least painful as possible. If you are worried about pain, don't be. We have numbing cream for Brazilians and bikinis which can reduce the pain by 30-40% Select "numbing" when scheduling.

  • After waxing or sugaring your pours are open for the next 24-48 hours so you want to avoid swimming, hot tubs, tanning beds, direct sun, heavy sweating, and sexual intercourse. There are all things that will further irritate the skin after a wax. It’s normal for your skin to be a little red and sensitive after your first wax for a day or two.

  • It is best to do a few waxes before your wedding if you have the time. If you don’t and this is a last minute thing, plan your wax to be 4-5 days before the wedding. This way, if your skin gets sensitivities it has enough time to calm down before the wedding.

  • Sugaring is a different hair removal technique than waxing. Sugaring is the new up-and-coming hair removal method that dates all the way back to the Egyptians! Your Sugarista (aka Master Esthetician with extensive sugar training) places a warm, all-natural sugar paste on the skin then gently flicks the paste removing all your unwanted hair. Since sugaring removes the hair in the natural direction of hair growth; sugaring can reduce ingrown hairs. Sugaring is the best choice for clients who are prone to ingrown hairs or have extra sensitive skin. If your hair is thick and coarse; your esthetician may suggest your first appt is done with wax. Read more about sugar vs wax here.

  • If you are on a medication that increases your skin’s photosensitivity it is not a good idea to get waxed. These medications make the skin thinner and too sensitive to wax. Those taking the oral prescription Accutane need to wait 1 year before waxing. If you use Retin-a or retinol products on your skin, you’ll need to discontinue for 7 days before waxing in that area.

  • We require 24 hours notice to change or cancel an appointment. A Fee of 30% of the scheduled service price will be applied to cancelations or reschedules that are done under 24 hours. Please arrive on time, if you are more than 5 minutes late, you may need to be rescheduled.
